Research is where the formal stuff goes: writeups, audits, things with a methodology section. This is for everything that doesn't fit that mold but is still worth writing down: half-finished thoughts, notes from whatever I'm messing with that week, opinions I'll probably revise in six months.
I've found that most of the useful things I learn happen outside of anything that turns into a polished writeup. Trying something, hitting a weird edge case, figuring out why a tool behaves the way it does. That stuff usually just evaporates once I've solved it. The plan here is to write it down before it does.
No fixed schedule, no fixed length. Some posts will be a paragraph, some will be longer. If it turns into something with actual findings and a clear scope, it probably belongs in Research instead and I'll move it there.
